Unique? 1964 Reverse Cameo Proof

6 posts in this topic

I found 1964 proof nickel the other day and want some help. Its pretty cool the usual mirror fields behind the highlights has hazed over and Jefferson's head and Monticello have kept the normal shiney luster of a proof in effect creating a reverse cameo coin. To top that off the whole thing has taken on a gorgeous soft pastel rainbow color. Quite striking to look at, but very hard to photograph. As a newbie I was wondering if this is something worth grading or should I just leave it alone? Is this uncommon. I have never seen anything like it. Any help, advice, or 2 cents would be great.

Hi Rooster,

Many proofs will have a one-sided cameo,so nothing unique there other than irritation when you see a nearly DCam frankie with a brilliant reverse foreheadslap.gif. It all depends on the beauty scale of the toning as to whether or not it would be worth getting certified. Care to show us a picture?
