Dang.......I almost had a test piece.

I just lost out on this piece. I was really looking forward to testing it with Acetone and MS70. I think it would've been a nice test considering the date proximity to one of the coins in question.

1905 Proof Ex-Norther Bay.

I believe this is the the original Stacks Auction.

Original stacks auction.

It would've been neat to see what effects Acetone alone had and then MS70 on a coin that was probably handled very simmilar to the 1900 in question.

I just didn't feel comfortable bidding more than I did for a test coin. The original buyer turned a decent little profit.

Let me finish that statement for you;

...unless...of course....
You applied MS70 and it turned into a MS66 colorful gem and you sold it for 1200 bucks....I know, I know, I thought about that...... insane.gif

If you're trying to reproduce what Rick Snow did with the Northern Bay cents, then be aware that not all the cents had lacquer on them and he did not use MS70 on them.
