Great coin Hayden, looks very original with plenty of character. 893applaud-thumb.gif I would grade it F15. Remember this is a year that was notorious for weak strikes, but there is just too much detail missing on the eagle to take up to the next level. It has a great, bold legend. Except for the weak Y in Liberty, it has solid lettering. I love the detail in star 13, Reich's signature scallop shows well on this coin. thumbsup2.gif

Are you keeping this or selling it Hayden? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Heyden, I think this is the nicest coin you have ever shared with us! thumbsup2.gif That is not meant to be a left-handed compliment, I truly adore it. smile.gif

This is subtype one to this long and wonderful series and this subtype is my favorite of them all. Minted only in 1807 and 1808, the strike is typically quite weak and the Mint spent considerable time and effort, it appears, trying to strengthen the design in the following years. The 1807-1808 CBHs should be graded differently than later years, but the TPGs certainly are not consistent on this point.

The variety is an O.112, which is by far the most common for the year, but is still quite a catch when it looks like this.

Nice pick up Hayden. thumbsup2.gif Looks like a fabulously original piece. Interesting to note how much detail is left in star 13.

Thanks for the comments guys,I was happy to add another original(er,looking) bustie to my collection. TJ,I'm probably going to hold on to this one for a little while unless I need extra funds. I'll be sure to give you first crack if I do sell it.
