Can I have an opinion on this coin?

I am really stumped on the grade of this one, so if you could help, that would be great. I am thinking that it is AU58.

Thanks for the help!

More like an xf45 -au50 coin. The rim is not fully defined.

The reverse looks like it has a bit more wear than you would see for a AU85. Particularly on the top going to the left down through the leaves, berries (?) etc. I have a AU50 and this area is much more defined on mine than yours. Plus the hair looks too worn for a AU58. I'll say a XF40. Also, the spot between the left shoulder and the staff...how visible is that to the naked eye?

It's not very visible, the coin is a bit darker than shown in the photos.

Are you going to send it in to be graded? It's definitely a nice looking coin and keeper if that's your series.

I'm not looking to send it in, I've had it for a few years and was never quite sure of the grade. It is now one of my favorite coins in my type set, and I don't plan on ever selling it.

When I first looked at the coin I thought AU 53 to AU 55.. A great coin for a type set. Thats what I say.

This is a beautiful coin in my opinion, and for me, it's at least AU-50 or better. You would need to capture more luster (if any) in the image for us to give a better evaluation. It's surely worth $65 or better.

Here is a really crappy picture I took a long time ago. It doesn't show much detail, but it more accurately shows color and luster.

I like the look of the coin much better in the second photo. This is also a

very good example of why photography shouldn’t be trusted. It looks like

two completely different coins.

Is the 3 in the date typical of this series? It looks larger than the other

numbers.

It looks like a lower-end AU, did you buy it from rpholdercoins on ebay? I ask because the images look very much like his style. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Hi Tom hi.gif ,

I didn't get this coin on ebay, I bought it from a dealer in Philadelphia a few years ago before I was into serious collecting. Both images are my own, and the first is the most recent.

I'm glad that just about everyone thinks this coin is AU, because that is what I bought it as, thought it was, and was about the price I payed for it.

Thank you everyone for your comments!
