A True NT Story----Grades Are Back

9 posts in this topic

Hello folks----Back on May1st of this year, I wrote this personal story. It is now on page 8 of these tangent boards if you care to read it.

First let me say that all of the coins did get placed in multi-holders by NGC. It did seem to take forever---longer than it should have taken. And, I must admit, that without Dena, NGC would not be on my best list at the moment. But Dena is worthy of a raise and that's that. Thanks Dena!!!

Three coin sets: !879S--MS65 1880S MS64 1881S MS63

1883-0 MS63 1884-0 MS62 1885-0 MS64

1886 MS63 1888 MS65 1889 MS62

Two Coin Set: 1896 MS65 and the 1928S Peace was an AU58

Overall, I am happy with the grades. All the holders are marked as "Toned" which adds to their credibility as far as I am concerned. Having these coins in slabs was important to me---as it preserves a memory---both of coins and especially of my dad. I also realize that none of them are especially rare---in Numismatic years, mints or grades. But, the toning was special and I thought it needed to be preserved. I am still without a decent digital camera. I had hoped that Tom B might be coming down again to the Baltimore Show---and might bring his camera. But it did not work out. I hope to one day be able to take decent pictures---I really do. But, it hasn't happened yet. Anyway, I wanted to share the end of the story with all of you. These were my FIRST multi--holders and, I must say that I like them. Bob [supertooth]

Bob,

Congradulations on this important set(not to mention the Walkers you recently submitted).

Yep, you sure need a camera. A good camera will take a WLH between a 1937-D MS-64 to a 1938-D in MS-65. Do you have a spare? That Nikon I just bought (after dropping my 950 down the steps blush.gif ) is in the 1937-D MS-64 catagory and will shoot far better than I will ever be able (my skills won't pass up the camera capability).

I also have 2 toned Peace dollars that are about AU50-58 and with nT tonning. These came from my Mother whcih gave them to me after my fater passed. She had them in an old envelope which toned them vvery nice. How do I get NGC to grade them with body bagging them. I want them graded and holdered for the same reason as this poster?
