It doesn’t look like a plug to me but C shaped imprint like what a steel stamp would make, plus there looks to be some other form of munching that is visible on both sides in the same spot, the rim is all deformed there. All that matter though is the coin is damaged.

 

 

So Hayden, what is the value of a damaged 1836 half like that? confused-smiley-013.gif
