Morgan question from a non Morgan person....

4 posts in this topic

Hi guys,

This is the 1921 Morgan (I know, not a great year) that I bought when I was in seventh grade (over 20 years ago)

Observe the dark streak at 10 O'clock.

This scan is not great, but you can see the streak. This coin is very white and has lots of luster, but that streak is very obvious and has been there for as long as I have owned the coin.

So first of all, what caused that streak and second, does it detract from the coin a great deal?

Click the image for MUCH LARGER size of the same scan...

thanks for the help

This may seem odd, but a rubber band wrapped around a coin or stack of coins can leave a mark like you are showing. I have never tried to remove such a stain.

thanks. I was just curious.

Like I said, the stain has been there for over 20 years. It is visible from almost every angle when looking at the coin.

If it were a better date in this otherwise nice condition, I might be more worried about the streak.

thanks again
