NGC Census

MS

Proof

They've only graded 10 in proof, and 5,000 in ms???

Nope. I did the same thing. Look above that line. Looks like they changed the wording on the label and it shows as two different coins in the census. About 125 proofs graded and 7,200 mint states.

I like the new gold Buffalo, but can you imagine looking through 7000+ of these in a week or so? That would really be mind-numbing to me insane.gif
Look at how many are 70's .....Mind numbing indeed 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Oh I see.. there's regular issue NGC, and then the First Strikes. Wouldn't they all be first strikes this early, though?

The would all qualify for the First Strike designation, but the grading services may charge more for that designation and the submitter not want to pay it or it may only apply to the MS coins received in bulk. When I did a bulk submission of Silver Eagles, NGC called me to ask if I wanted the First Strike designation. There was a small extra cost to it. Had I said no, they'd have come back in the normal slab even though they were submitted within a few days of release by the mint.
