Goose, please give us a report about your trip to the Canadian mint. They have a wide-ranging commemorative program and are not afraid of new technology like holograms, colorization and matte finishing devices of an otherwise brilliant proof. They also show much more willingness to change circulating coinage as evidenced by their colorized quarters.

Even better than the mint is the Bank of Canada's Currency Museum in downtown Ottawa. It's one of the most interesting and attractively presented numismatic displays I've seen. Included is the extremely rare 1911 Canadian silver dollar.
