Okay, I've had this question in my sig line for a while, but no responses so far. Can anyone suggest a good book on liberty head nickels? Is the Bowers book any good?

I have the Bowers book and have read most of the background beginning material. Since this is not a series I've taken seriously I cannot judge the merits of this book versus another. I have found just about anything Q David Bowers writes helpful.

Bowers' book is definitely the most fun coupled with some great history and tidbits of the time. Solid numismatic info. Another to consider is Peters and Mohon's The complete guide to shield & Liberty head nickels - DLRC Press, Virginia Beach, VA.
