What is the "original skin and color of this coin" supposed to be? "Original Skin" is another way of saying "original surfaces" of the coin. This coin could be in the same holder, and dipped "blast white". However, I appreciate its originality and color. Henri Charriere
Evidently, I got so caught up in how the heavyweight championship would play out between @RWB and @VKurtBwith the Great Zadok's affinity for using the "confused" emoji, that I missed the slide show on blast white cartwheels and how it qualified as a little-known exemption to the iron-clad, not to be confused with cleaning. I appreciate the clarification.

Popular Post EdG_Ohio
I have 2 new, at least to me, 1c coins I picked up raw in a auction a while back and decided to test my meager grading skills on them. I'm very pleased that my grading matched NGCs, although these aren't part of any particular outstanding pieces. One here and other in For the Love of copper coin forum. Please excuse the poor images. I think at 11 years old, she may be the next numismatist in my household, I'm loving it. I was scrolling through some coin and precious metal dealer's websites yesterday and she was right there with me looking at all the cool bullion and silver rounds that are out there now. Of course..... being a HORSE LOVING FANATIC of a little girl (she will always be my little girl!!!!) this one silver round just happened to show up while her gaze was fixed on all the cool and different designs that are available these days. So....... she say's, "Daddy..... I would love to have 'that 'one.....". What does a loving father do???? I think you all know the answer on that one..... Should be here in a week or so. Well, I finally got back in town after a couple weeks vacation alone time and there sat a package on my bed my son got from our mailbox while I was out of town. I wanted to give it to my little girl in person. I laid it on her bed so that when she got home from school it would be a surprise to her as I'm sure she had forgotten all about it. If only I had some pictures of her reaction when she opened it up and realized her daddy actually got this token for her. Priceless to say the least!!! She now has plans to make a special shelf and some display boxes to put all of her "horse" coins in and display them for her family and friends to see. Ya just can't beat it fellas, the love shared between a daddy and his daughter!!! One other note here, Money Metals Exchange was a pleasure to work with (other than their shipping fees). First time I ever bought anything from them. I was very impressed with the packaging and little certificates of authenticity they included. Pretty cool I thought. Jeffs are a good time. We are a bit reversed as I have been picking up some raw unc Lincolns, and I just happened to get a 1920P Lincoln in my change tonight. Henri Charriere
At the risk of having the entire membership rise up and eviscerate me, very publicly and embarrassingly -- and anyone who would entertain the thought, "Well, it's not against the Guidelines to comment in good faith, negatively or not," I hereby throw all caution to the wind and aver the following... There is a special place in my ❤ for @Lem E his modest style, collection of coins, and introduction to @Buffalo Head's photography skills. I don't know who photographed the 1961 Jefferson, but I am not sure it would make a difference. I have withheld comment until I have had a sufficient opportunity to examine it [under possibly unlawful, according to @VKurtB's unarguable Law of the Magnification of Coins] and come to the conclusion that while the coin is deserving of an MS-67 grade in every respect, that does not extend to the very weakly struck stone pile with barely distinguishable architectural features. I do not want to put any Jeff collectors on the spot, but although I no longer collect Jeffs, I have seen better, stronger Monticello strikes in lesser grades. In every other respect, the coin is outstanding [and if they ever catch the guy who vandalized the steps, I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.] Should any seasoned veteran feel my observation is unwarranted and/or heretical, I am prepared to be appear before the Star Chamber, if summoned.🐓 Lem E

The very early and very recent are both superior to the middle years. Lem E and Henri Charriere 1

They say the only thing worse than a 61 Nickel from Philly is a 61 Nickel from Denver. This is true in my collection as well. My 61 D is nowhere near this new 61 P. Sometimes things just are what they are. Henri Charriere

Popular Post EARLY-COMMEM-HUNTER
Howdy! I’ve been off these boards for a good decade and like so many I became rededicated to numismatics with my extra covid induced free time last year, so I’m back!! Used a different handle back then and I can’t recall what it was. I always preferred this side of the street. Much more my speed and temperament here. Anyways, here’s one I picked up at a local show a few months ago. I’ve been really taking my time cherry picking superb eye appeal pieces when possible. VERY hard in this market indeed. Cheers! Popular Post GBrad
Not that this is a coin acquisition, but I thought the old schoolers here would appreciate this. I was going through one of my safes tonight and found this magazine tucked away deep in the back and folded up. I can't believe I still had this thing but thought I'd share it with you all as "My latest acquisition, U.S." Heck, for all I know, this thing may be worth something but I highly doubt it. I briefly scanned through it and it is truly amazing where the price of coins have gone since 1997. If anyone wants to know what their coins were valued back 24+ years ago, then shoot me a PM and I will gladly look it up for you for simple info sake. This old magazine is packed full of just about all denominations, years, mm's, etc..... Pretty neat I thought.
