Whew! Just beat another client by 3 minutes in picking this one up from Mark Feld:

1870 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Dime NGC PR64 $650

Obverse with a white center (as compared to the pink hue that the image portrays) framed by colorful old time album toning at the border; reverse mostly color-free with considerable cameo contrast. One would be hard pressed to locate a noticeably better example for the grade and price.

Way cool dime Victor! 893applaud-thumb.gif

Awesome toning, nice cameo contrast, there’s a lot to like in your coin. cloud9.gif

Any 19th century proof is a fine addition to a type set, but you did great on this pick up EZE. thumbsup2.gif

Mark Feld’s website is always filled with good stuff; I go there and drool often. insane.gif

Thanks for the kudos, Bruce & Paul. Actually, that is Mark's photo. He's going to FedEx it to me so it should be in hand shortly.

Like I said, another 3 minutes and I'd have been out of luck. I was lucky and saw his email right-a-way. Mark always has great coins but most are snatched up so quickly that it is easy to miss out.

He has me on his want list for a PR64 Cameo No Motto Seated Liberty Half. He had a beautiful last September but I missed it and someone on these boards picked it up. I hope I get one as nice. 893crossfingers-thumb.gif

Here's a link for a beautiful Christian song that I'm listening to now:

Cool Dawg!

I thought that the 1839 type had no stars? confused-smiley-013.gif Obviously I'm mistaken but nice coin anyway.

I just got this off of ebay from leeg (it was a James Garcia coin so you know that it's gotta be good!):

It's easy to forget what years come with what bells-and-whistles for the myriad Seated Libery series, but the dimes were no stars obverse with legend reverse for 1837 and 1838-O only.

James definately has nice coins! I have no idea where he finds them all but I'm sure I will get more from him in the future.

Here's an 1820 I'm waiting on. I was playing with Microsoft Paint around the background of the obverse. The coin is not nicked or damaged. 1289439-1820AltCBH.JPG

I picked up a small hoard of foreign coins today. These from South & East Africa are of no great value, but I just like the way they look. Any marks you might see, are on the 2x2.

Bruce, the 1805 DBH is a much, much, much, much, much, much harder date than the bid sheets suggest! thumbsup2.gif Did I mention that it was much harder? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

These are couple from that foreign hoard that I think are interesting, too!

If you can see them, there are die lcashes on obverse & reverse:

This has a neat rim break on the obverse between 3 & 4 o'clock:

Here’s my latest acquisition. It’s a HK-497 So Called Dollar in a NGC MS-66 holder, but NGC has it mislabeled as a HK-498. I’ll be sending it back to be corrected with my next submission. It is much nicer in hand than it looks in my photos.

It's a good day. The franklin rev with close inspection does not appear to be scratched or wipped but, has what appears to be a water stain across part of it. It's the only toned one in a UNC roll of 1963 halfs. Obviously someone tampered with this one.
