Latest addition: 1876 5c DDO (S1-1003, no listing in either Fletcher or CPG). Graded MS-64 by NGC, but I would give it a technical grade of a high 62 or low 63. The strike is soft -- seen most clearly on the east leaf clusters -- and there are a couple of hits in the prime focal areas of the shield. There are also planchet defects; you'll see the most obvious in the 7th argent of the shield. But, the eye appeal might account for the grade that it received. The obverse is from a fresh die without the typical cracks, the surface has proof-like flash, and the tone is a deep amber with an orange tint.

It hasn't been treated to badly and it does look better in hand. I will be searching for a nicer one.

Would it be out of line to perma-pin this thread to the top?

Did a little bottom feeding for this one. Not really sure if i like it, as I am not a big fan of woodgraining, but I think I will call this T-Rex. Cuz it looks like T-rex ripped poor 'ole Abe with his claws. Kinda Jurrasic park like. grin.gif

One of the French sellers I deal with quite often was gone from eBay for a few weeks. When he returned, he listed 6 pages of medals. I contacted him to welcome him back, and told him he was breaking me with all of his offerings. He replied and asked which items interested me. I sent him a list of 38 and he pulled all of them and sold them to me for considerably less than the opening bids. These are just a few that I have time to image.

It is a company that constructs electric powerplants. I wish that I was better at taking photos of the toning because it is really a striking piece.

I think that is a great idea! 893crossfingers-thumb.gif

Shane, I love the color on that Morgan! cloud9.gif

And that 1941 S Walker has an incredible strike for the date/mm! thumbsup2.gif

I couldn't believe that I won this HK-588 for the opening bid of $9.99. Oops! I made a mistake. I looked at the wrong print-out. The correct price is $41.00. I had a bunch of stuff come in from the Post Office, all at once, that was being held while I was in Las Vegas. Still, I'm happy because this is my first silver "Termination". I wonder what it will grade?

Mike, my monitor is a little dark but from what I see, that is an awesome large cent! Very nice. thumbsup2.gif

Lee, that is one red cent! Great coin!

Chris, you have become very adept at coin photography. I'm impressed! Nice pick ups on some of those medals, too. You've found a nice little niche.

Thanks for the compliments guy's! The pic above was taken with two OTT-LITE's. This one was done with one 60W Incand. I like the beard detail on this coin. Has a couple carbon spot's which do bother me, but overall not bad. smile.gif

Mike that's a super example. grin.gif Keep me in mind if you ever want to unload it. wink.gif

That's a neat looking coin but do you really think it would come close to AU58? Some of the letters are gone, is it just a poor strike? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Late Die State, Poor Strike, however you want to term it. . Letters missing are not that uncommon for these coins. If you notice the main devices are all there and so are all the rims. It would take some very odd handling of the coin to get it like that. Also notice the cracks all over this coin
