Since the obverse design is almost the same I will choose the gold over nickel.

Who cares about 3cn anyway? grin.gif

I'd go with the gold too. It simply looks better to me and has more upward value potential.

That's from newie that would trade most of my collection for either.

I will take the gold over the nickel for a) it's intrinsic value as a precious metal; b) it's historical significance as minted during the Civil War; c) being an XF it saw circulation which adds to the uniquenss of the coin - who handled it, where was it circulated, how was it used?

No question, the gold. For one thing, the gold coin's worth more - a LOT more - than the IIIcn. That's my only reason.

I would then sell the gold coin, and buy something I really want! devil.gif27_laughing.gif

Hi Michael! hi.gif

I'm fifteen years old. I like to collect all types of coins, whatever seems interesting to me. I'm currently working on a Dansco 7070 album, and I'm enjoying it alot.

Thanks,

Zach

Without reading any of the other comments, I'd take the 3CN because I love the colors. If I cared more about gold, maybe I would have stayed married.

If both PCGS I'll go with the monster "A" III Cent because it will be a pleasure always to look at and I don't have one.

If both NGC I'll go with "B" gold--it's more desirable and I know how NGC grades these. Not sure I'd always keep it though.

An immediate, unhesitating and strong vote for the three cent nickel. There truly is no need for discussion or defense, the images speak for themselves.
