who has an opinion on the reliability of the grading done by Numistrust Corporation (NTC)?

I do. They can sometimes be spot on with their grades, but other times they will be WAAAAAY off.

pass and NEVER look back never ever even think about them again

It's not just the grading that cannot be relied on. I have only bought one NTC slab (off ebay a few years ago) and I sent it back. The coin probably had the details for the grade assigned, but the coin was cleaned and doctored. Treat their coins as raw and buy only sight seen and you may be able to find a good buy.

NTC DOES NOT CERTIFY coins. They only grade (by their own standards) and encapsulate them. Because they are not willing to back their grades with a financial guarantee, that should tell you how much trust NUMIStrust puts in their own service.

I picked up an NTC Toned MS66 1945 Merc on Ebay awhile back for $10.00 I would not grade it higher than a 64.

I see a fair amount of Indian Head Cents in those slabs, and almost all of them have a grade of 67 and almost all of them have that un-natural looking pink/dipped washed out look to them. I wouldn't waste a dime on them.
