ANA Board agenda - Dealer Membership - more unwanted elitism!

17 posts in this topic

I saw an interesting item on the ANA Board of Governor Agenda part of the ANA website. A new membership class for dealers - is someone "stuck on stupid"? They want to create a class of membership "for professional dealers" - have they heard of the PNG? This whole proposal was created by their wonderful VP - is he wanting to create more unwanted elitism in our hobby? Is he out of his mind? screwy.gif

Here is the link - ANA Board proposal for Dealer Membership

Well, let's do a little math.

1. number of dealers cowtowing to the search at $185 each = $0

2. number of dealers wishing to be a 'sub-type' at $249 each = $0

Hmmmm, in my business we call this proposal a "crock" and

revenue neutral. just an opinion

....and a really big one it is. The 30,000+ members of the ANA (myself included) needs to tell them that their proposal is a joke and needs to be shelved!

Absolutely.

They must be bored and have little of significant consequence to focus on. smirk.gif

The ANA's Board has always had somewhat lame actions and ideas, ever since I can remember. However, my recollection only spans the last 40 years. They probably were lame for awhile before my time! 27_laughing.gif

Well, the most of the current board is not only lame but "stuck on stupid!" 893whatthe.gif

Mike, thank you for bringing this up. I'm amazed at how stupid this idea is.

James

Well, James, look at how much it will cost should it go through - dealers like us will be put in a lower class (thus what it means is that we, the smaller dealers, are going to be looked at as "shady or scum".) The fact the the current ANA VP came up with this (like his rant about ASA/Accugrade, which we all know what resulted) tells me that he thinks that we, the dealers who are average members of the ANA, are a bunch of losers. He thinks that he is doing this in the name of consumer protection. I think he's full of it - I think he's trying to create an "elite" class to make us look like dirt! Who in their right mind would want to pay $185 for a "background check", then their regular ANA dues, and then, get ready for this, pay $249 a year just to be one of the "elite"? As I said in previous posts on NGC and PCGS boards, the ANA is trying to create its own version of PNG - but the PNG has its "bar" raised so high that even if this proposal gets approved, it will flop big time.

I think when the ANA Board is up for election next year - vote the bums out! ANA REFORM NOW! yay.gif893applaud-thumb.gifheadbang.gifthumbsup2.gif

Well, at the next election the incumbents should be scared, though it would't surprise me one bid if they somehow created a ballot that would not identify any incumbents, so members would have to work to "throw the bums out" thus protecting themselves above the members once again. It's sad, but I doubt they could do anything shady that would surprise me at this point.

Then it is up to us to remind all of what they (the ANA board) have done.

James, see my earlier post regarding this 'scam'. Makes me just want to , well, anyway it just does. In my 40+ years in the hobby I've only know 2 or maybe 3 dealers who were real 'second-class' scumbags. Rest of you guys are okay and should never consider being part of a "sub-class".

Scam is right - and the clowns from Colorado Springs wants to relegate us to a "sub-class" - now you know they're "stuck on stupid." I talked to some former ANA governors at a coin show recently, and they think the whole thing is a bad idea, and at the CICF show, I was talking to some dealers about this and they think it won't pass, but if it does, will be doomed to failure. And in 2007, we can "throw the bums out!" yay.gif
