Another Question - American Precious Metals Exchange?

3 posts in this topic

Well, so far i dont think i have started very well with my coin collecting. I think I need to find a different source for some of my coin purchases. I was lookin at prices of Silver Eagles on the internet and I ran into American Precious Metals Exchange to me the prices seem fair (although I am clueless) and then I looked at prices of Modern Commemoratives which also seemed to be good. I was wondering if anyone has purchased from them before and if so do u get good quality coins? And are the prices reasonable? It would be great if a couple of folks could tell me to go ahead and spend some money with them or avoid them? I wanted to use Ebay as a source for coin purchases but I dont know all I need to know before I start using Ebay.

If you're considering buying from APMEX or any other source sight-unseen, make sure they have a return policy and stick to certified coins whenever possible. You can find the APMEX return policy under "FAQ's - Miscellaneous". APMEX prices for Certified SAE's and "Green Monsters" are priced below than most other dealers.

If the SAE's are what you are looking for, you should also know that the U.S. Mint is producing a special set of SAE's beginning sometime this year that will include the UNC SAE. This will be the first time since its introduction in 1986 that the Mint will be selling UNC Eagles directly to the public. Until now, they would only sell them to bullion dealers.

Hmmm, maybe you best re-read your coin collecting plan; or revise it some . Increase your library and read for a while. SHOP around and compare prices -- you don't necessarily have to buy when you shop. The coin(s) will probably still be available later.
