What do you think of Heritage's new website?

16 posts in this topic

Heritage auction archives are the best resource for coin sales on the web, a real learning tool. I use to log in there every day for one reason or another.

This week I logged in there for the first time in quite a while and damn, they created a new web format. I don't like it. Heritage was like comfort food for me. I knew where to find what I was looking for, it was a nice clean well structured site, and I felt at home there. I don't like the new website, it's too condensed and too generic.

Sigh. I long for the good old days of website design wink.gif

I'm OK with the design, and I shop on Heritage quite a bit.

But they don't have all the bugs out yet.

Sometimes some links just disappear, and you have to use the search engine to find what you want.

I noticed a change in layout and color, but the rest of the features, at least the ones I use, seemed to be in the same spot. More cosmetic change, and not necessarily better, though that's a matter of taste.

I hate it, although I'll admit it's a little speedier.

They changed my wantlist from the old to the new format - now I can't find ready access to auction archives for the coins that I specified. I now have to go through the auction archives and they are not as precise or I have to guess at syntax for listings. Pain in the rear.

It's ugly.

I'm not that thrilled with it. I've got 2 inches of brown space on each side of the screen while all the content in the middle is crammed together.

I could do without the featured item jumping out at me. If they were items for sale I'd like it a little better, but old auction results of million dollar coins is less than helpful to me.

i love it and it was always great but this new look is easier on the eyes and easier at least for me to use/navigate

kudos to heritagecoin 893applaud-thumb.gif for having one of the best coin web sites on the web and it is all free to use and quite a research tool to boot

thanks heritage for the great free to use web site with coin information not available elsewhere

Heritage has an excellent website with regard to information. However, I really preferred the previous version with drop-down menus. Also, after I click on a link, later when I come back to it, the link isn't highlighted in a different color, letting me know that I've already clicked it.

Overall, for useability, I prefer the previous version, and that's after spending quite a bit of time acquainting myself with the new iteration. However, I wouldn't say that I hate the way it is now.

Greg summed up my ascetic problem with their new site. I am somewhat of an old guy but that doesn't mean I'm not open to new ideas. In fact I love new ideas, if they're better. As one who has dabbled in website design I hate this condensed format.

I have had issues with Heritage over the years, they are the GM of US coin auction houses. I've person_without_enough_empathyed about their coin imaging, their buyback practices, etc...But I always thought they had the best website design team. New isn't always better, and I think Heritage blew it with this choice.

This feature is unchanged for me, meaning it still goes to a different color after I clicked on a link, and it stays that new color.

You old guys,

At age 62 I don't much like changes, unless it is broken. 27_laughing.gif

As Michael said, they offer a wealth of information that I use regularly. I do prefer the old version, but it's probably because I haven't gotten used to the new one yet. Also, sometimes the coin denominations don't list and I have to reload...??

I used to get these tickets from them guaranteeing no fee for re-auctioning whatever I got, but I won a couple of coins in the Reiver sale and didn't get anything. Did they stop that policy?

One significant factor in changing things is that people generally don't like change when they are comfortable with what they are used to. Unfortunately web-site programmers like to change stuff to "improve it" and give them something to do.
