NGC rattlers?

5 posts in this topic

I was going through NGC slabs earlier, and i noticed some of the coin holders shake inside the plastic covers. does this mean their not airtight? 893scratchchin-thumb.gifor is this nothing to worry about?

I have seen this from time to time on new holders. The white plastic insert sometimes rattles around inside the sealed shell. It should not affect the seal, air-tight or not, but it is a very annoying defect.

I seem to recall one of my NGC slabbed coins moving slightly within the slab although the coin in question now resides in a safety deposit box.

From what I remember the movement of the core was only minimal at best, barely noticeable (no actual rattle sound), is this the same problem as noted by jason888 and coinman1794 or is the condition they are referring to much worse and does the insert actually rattle?

Also if the insert or core is rattling could this not cause damage to the coin if it were to make contact with the (moving) surfaces of the inside of the slab?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this. I've just recently signed up with Collectors-Society and find this chatroom to be a truly great resource and a lot of fun reading through.

Cheers,
