1884 Silver Dollar (Plus other coins in my collection)

63 posts in this topic

What value is this? I have lots of coins I do not know the value to.

I will have a scan of all my coins very shortly, but the 1884 Silver Dollar

seems to have value.

They won't be photo's but scans, but sit tight, in about 30 minutes I will have my whole collection of coins shown.

I am a newbi at this. Besides the fact I collect coins rarely (The only thing I collect as of now is the 50 state quaters) I have no idea in value.

Depending on the condition of the coin it can be worth anywhere from 10 dollars to a few hundred dollars. And also depending on the mint mark the value can be raised as far as that goes as well.

If it's worth anything, would it be a good idea to submit to NGC or w/e part of of this grading company does coins?

Depending on the condition, again, it may or may not be a good idea to submit it to ngc. if there's environmental damage then NCS would be a good idea. But if it's an overall great coin then NGC is the way to go. Still need photos though.

Yes, they will be on the way. I just can't DC from the net right now. :-\

I need to disconnect my USB wi-fi card in order to use my Scanner.

But as of now, I am using FTP to upload some things.

That's a nice dollar there. Probably grade XF-AU I think. Other coins aren't worth much more than face value, and the foreigns I know little about.

Yeah, I was confused about the one that seems to be foreign.

I def. know the Golden Dollar from 01 aint worth nuttin.

About how much is the Silver Dollar worth? SPecially if graded.

And would you know how much it would be if I sent it in.

One last, if I wanted to clean them, how would I go about doing that?

OK let's take this one step at a time. In order to submit coins to NGC, you have to be a member of the ANA or the Collector's society. If you are a member of either of those then grading is about $30 i would say with shipping and insurance. Let's say it comes back in XF-45, then it would be worth 25.00 or so i would say. Could you do something for me? on the "back" of the coin look right under the eagle's talons. is there any sort of mint mark there?

And if you're not a memeber of the ANA or the collector's society then you have to become one. Actually now i think of it, being a member of the collector's society may be the only way to get your coins into NGC unless you find a dealer. Collector's society membership is $99

A mint mark is a small letter above the D in DOLLAR. There may not be anything. Just if there was an "S" then we would be talking some serious dough here.

Yeah I know....that's high. I found a dealer. Idk where he is though, but he also sells comics & cards.

Now, back to my question. Btw thanks for the help so far.
