Toned Peace - One of my Favorites

13 posts in this topic

There's been a little contraversy lately about toned Peace Dollars - Here's one I've had for awhile - (it was NOT stored for 80 years in a brown envelope) - but this is what I refer to as a WOW coin -actually a double WOW coin as everyone says WOW when they see the obverse, and WOW! when they turn it over and look at the reverse! Enjoy cool.gif

Very nice! The green is very unusual, and attractive.

The Green is slightly less "intense" than the image (I had it imaged by an expert photographer) - and in hand the coin has an even nicer look.

Truly a WOW!, but also in truth, if I were to come across such a coin, I'd be scared half to death of purchasing it. I just can't imagine the conditions that would be required to tone a peace dollar that way. I would conclude (for myself) that the coin is AT (and possibly not done "changing"). (Mind you, I'm not claiming this coin is AT, just that that's how I'd consider it.) Perhaps that shows my ignorance of the series (and I know little of it), but it also causes me to err on the safe side of my spending limits! tongue.gif Still so much to learn...

Nice piece Ron! Although I must admit that I don't find the reverse too appealing, the green and even the pink look rather...er, "unappealing". Of course it could just be the pics...

It is fantastic and I am wondering if it is one that I have seen in-hand before, perhaps at Baltimore? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif The only thing that would scare me about this coin is the cost to obtain it.

Tom - it is in fact the same coin cool.gif- and you don't need to worry about the cost because it's not for sale grin.gif

I bet you could get, oh, around $14K for that thing. smile.gif

Nice coin!

Thanks for the nice compliment - but even if I did offer to sell it it wouldn't be for $14K - (TPN already offered me a million! - or maybe it was a billion! blush.gifwink.gif )
