I know you collectors will really appreciate this - a little slice of nostalgia!

I bought this from a club member at our last club meeting. It cost me ten bucks! Since picking it up, I've added some dozen coins, including the 1909-S VDB (EF details, corroded, net VF) from one of my earliest sets. The album was literally in tatters when I got it, with coins constantly falling out. It's a Meghrig, ca. 1950, and you can only view one side of a coin once placed in. The paper used is remarkably non-reactive, as none of the coins has corroded, though some have toned. I glued the album back together as best I could, and still need to do a little more repair work, as you can see. I love stuff like this, and thought you guys would appreciate it, too. You can click the thumbnails for large scans.

ENJOY!

That's cool. I have an old Whitman folder for early Lincolns that I bought at an estate auction. The owner was a retired Marine, and when he passed away, nobody in his family was interested in his coin collection. So I ended up buying the whole thing.

I finished the Whitman album in his memory with nice worn coins that matched the ones that he had collected from change.

I love old albums. I once bought a partial set of Jeffersons in one of those albums that had toned nicely in it. The album was in tatters, so I sent it to recycling tongue.gif.

Those Lincolns I was showing came out of one of those albums. I accidentally destroyed the album trying to get the coins out crazy.gif

Thanks for posting.

Filling holes in a Lincoln album..........the thrill of finding a keeper...

Past memories so faded in the light of the present.

That is how I started collecting.
