1972 Kennedy Is this an example of Strike Doubling? Mechanical?

Yes, that appears to be strike doubling, also known by other names such as machine doubling. Notice how the image appears flat and shelflike, almost like ghosting around the real image. Usually, the area is shinier, and you can see where metal has been pushed around.
