Wow! I was all of 5 years back then, time sure does fly. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Yeah, me too.

I was probably watching sesame street or something.

Wow -- do I feel old!!! Didn't think 1995 went back that far. I was going to put up a scan of the cover of the Coin World 1972 issue which announces the 1972 1c Major DDO#1. Phew, glad I didn't. That would have really been ancient history.

Don't feel bad, Billy. 1995 was my 30th High School Reunion; 1972 was the year my son was born. So what! These kids never got to see the time when a BU 1909-S VDB was worth far less than a brand new Cadillac and $1,000 could buy you a bag of Morgans from the bank.

I bought two bags at the start and looked through about half of one of them.

The other bag and a half are still sitting here unsearched.

After another ten years I might finish them. laugh.gif

Although not all of us can remember buying the Morgans from the bank, some of us newbies to the board can remember actually pulling all silver coins and wheaties from every day pocket change ... 893applaud-thumb.gifthumbsup2.gif

I was 6 in '72 ...

I graduated in 69. Lets see in 72 I had recently returned from Vietnam and was stationed at Presidio of San Francisco. Yep -- can remember that time well with all the "Haight-Ashbury" hippie power thing going on. We couldn't leave the base in uniform back then even though our short haircuts still gave us away that we were in the military. We were really hated back then. While I was stationed there I can remember when they were filming the movie, "Magnum Force" and one of the scenes in the movie was at the Golden Gate bridge (actually underneath it) on the north side. I was on MP duty and got to watch them film that scene and to meet with Clint Eastwood. Very nice person.

Wihlborg: That's a nice one!

Larry: Did you check your coins for the other 1995 1c DDO#2?

Hayden: Yep -- CW was alive and well. I think CW was started in the '50s -- or was it the early '60s.

Not sure I even knew about DDO#2 back in 1995 when I searched the first half of one of the bags. It takes a lot of time to search an UNC bag of cents. Just knew if I found a DDO, I would have fingerprinted it before I knew what I had smile.gif

I do recall finding lots of coins with extra metal between the letters of Liberty. Forgot what this is called. Saw these in ads for sell in about 96 or so. I'm thinking it was just a bunch of hype.

If I ever find the time, I only have a bag and a half to go. insane.gif

someday we'll drool over $40 95 ddo's you know.... and $400 '72's
