Anaheim, CA coin show. I sold everything I brought.

7 posts in this topic

The little Anaheim, CA coin show was today. I arrived about 12:30PM. Nicely attended by about 25 dealers. A couple of no shows. Most dealers were eager to buy since Long Beach is next week. I brought about $1000 worth of nickel and dime kind of coins. Sold everything in about 20 minutes. thumbsup2.gif Not a huge profit, but adequate. I purchased a couple of rare date mexican coins. Dealers were expecting a bigger crowd. Not a lot of collectors this time around, probably because of the Long Beach show and the Super Bowl tomorrow. Most collectors are sports fans and start getting drunk at 10AM Sat. foreheadslap.gif I was pleased with sales and purchases.

Overall grade:B

I predict Long Beach to be active for the megacoins, and a downer for collector coins.

If I had remembered I would have showed up. Too bad you didn't mention you were going to be there BEFOREHAND. Dingus...

You missed out on some really cool colored early date buff nickels. The dealer didn't know what he had and sold most of them to a collector at 95% of sheet.

TRUTH

Just another sign of the doom and gloom in the coin market that a dealer has to sell nicely color Buffalo nickels for under sheet.

That was probably the same guy who I sold my colored Buffs to at the last LB show. devil.gif

Sounds like you nickeled and dimed the dealers to death. tongue.gif

Seems like that's how most of the market is right now. Either folks have too much to spend or not enough to fuel the fire. Eventually, however, the collector coins will dry up with an ever-widening collector base.
