1963+1964 Proof Set Envelopes

5 posts in this topic

I have a 1963 and a 1964 US Mint Proof Set, and I really like the coins, but I'm afraid that the sealed plastic envelope type things that the sets come in may be damaging the coins. Should I remove these coins from their original holders?

Thanks,

Zach

I posted this in the Ask NCS forum, and they said that the cellophane might damage the coins, so I cut them open and put them in mylar and cardboard 2x2's.

They also can tone them real purty! thumbsup2.gif

I have a couple dozen of these sets and none of them exhibit any damage. A few of the coins exhibit some muted gold toning especially the nickels. Otherwise they look pretty good.
