Going way back in the days of certified coins - 1973 to be exact!

James----When ANACS first started, they were in Washington, D.C.----By chance, I was collecting CC twenties then. Had purchased an 1891CC from a dealer in Atlanta [500 bucks in CH Au]. Was especially concerned over its color. Had heard about this "ANACS" soon to come----wrote to them in Washington. I was actually 'before' they were accepting actual coins. Had to wait. Finally they sent word to send the CC's. I still have all my correspondence---my pictures actually came separate from the paper work. Last year I had reason to look at these things. Boy, do the memories come back to you. Oh yeah, I remember. The 1891 was considered questionable. At any rate they would not certify it. Sent it back and got my money back. My others were OK-----Those were the times. Bob [supertooth]

Sounds like one of the first body-bags too!! I wonder how long it took them to figure out that refunding for "uncertifiable" coins was not great a business idea !
