Here's what I don't like about ICG....

... and it has nothing to do with their grading. I have a client who suckered into the "ICG signature series" cråp. Here's an example of the wonderful value that ICG adds to your coins, and note that it only cost my client $219 for the Sacagawea set - 6 coins. That's just about $35 per coin (graded MS-65) - what a great investment!

Sad. Very sad.

Unfortunutely PCGS and NGC have also fallen victim to this type of false hype, but you're right: ICG is the biggest offender.

 

By far,one reason why I like ANACS-they only list die cracks...

What it basically means is this. You get to reserve number "158", which means that in the future, you have the privilege of paying a substantial premium for slabs on which ICG will write "#158". Thus, it's kind of like a pedigree, only it's a number assigned to you.
