Are you checking your Westward Journey Nickel Series Mint Sets?

Recently, a doubled die obverse was reported on the 2005-P 5c (Bison rev.) located in the Westward Journey Nickel Series sets. I have noticed a couple of eBay auction sells with two links below. Whether those prices hold is to early to tell. I was fortunate to examine one this weekend and below are photos I took of the coin to help identify.

Are you checking your sets? It's nice to see that the Mint is still producing doubled dies. But don't ask them -- they don't make doubled dies?

Who knows what else is out there to be found.

If these are satin finish coins, they may very well turn up in Mint Sets as well. I imagine the coins for the WJ sets were done the same time as the Nickels in the SF mint sets. Or is it possible they were minted at two different times?

Billy -- I thought that the Mint was moving to or now using equipment & materials that permit transfer of designs from hubs to dies (and from dies to hubs) in a single pressing. I must have dreamed that up, though, if we're still seeing coins struck with doubled dies. Thanks for posting the excellent photos.

The coin that has the DDO is of the Satin Finish type and came out of the Westward Journey Nickel Series set.

Do you think the Nickels for these sets were made at a different time than the nickels in the SF Mint Sets? I figured that the SF Nickels were all made at once and then divided up between the WJ sets and the SF Mint sets....or do you think they were produced from entirely different runs?
