I have to tell you upfront that I think many folks will not appreciate just how nice this coin is as the Lincoln is one of those commems that simply does not come with nice toning on it. Usually, they are splotchy and unattractive. This piece also appears to have unusually nice luster booming from the surfaces.

I love the color. The only thing I do not like about this design is the type face used for IGWT; it looks as though it were put there as an afterthought, similar to the eagle on the reverse of the Franklin half dollar. The coin is graded MS64, is this because of the series of small lines on the obverse in front of the portrait? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Regardless of grade, this is a moose. hail.gif

Joshua Wolf Shenk recently previewed his coming book, Lincoln's Great Depression, in "The Atlantic Monthly." Morgan's portrait of Lincoln on the Illinois Centennial -- which I understand was based on statue -- captures the essence of the man as described by Shenk. It's a wonderful representation; and your coin is a beautiful example, DF.

I especially like the fact you could find one at a lower grade...so maybe it was not priced outrageously. Good job! thumbsup2.gif
