NGC Certifies the Ed Price Half Dime Collection

14 posts in this topic

Fan-freakin-tastic!!! I met him briefly in Baltimore during the 1st session of the Russ Logan sale. He won the edge mirrors after much spirited bidding!

For those who don't know, he's into more than just the half dimes!

Greg,

Pull out the Logan catalog (B&M, 11/02) and check out the final lot of the first session of the Logan material. If memory serves, it'll be after the Logan ED's.

They are very cool...

I never got that catalog and I usually toss the ones I do after the auction ends.

Yes, but WHAT are they? confused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gif

The edge mirrors are a special concoction of Logan's creativity. They are highly polished circular pieces of metal that are used to reflect the lettered edge of the early federal issues so that you can mount a camera atop the coin (surrounded by the mirrors) and photo the edges.

As I said -- very neat!

I highly recommend the catalog as a keeper for anyone who has any research interest in Capped Bust material. Mark Borckardt did an excellent job cataloging a collection that was nearly complete of known die (re)marriages.

That's outstanding work and stunning that it could be done in only ten years! The 1795 is absolutely a killer piece.

Everyone should get an idea of what edge mirrors are, they are really neat.
