Sorry bout that. It's the 1943/2 overdate variety. I keep forgetting that most postings here are more about AT coins or enhanced colored coins by photo programs instead of die varieties.

I hope that was meant tongue-in-cheek. You should smile when you say something rude so us AT posters will know you were just kidding. wink.gif

Well since Hoot responded, I'll assume it's a nickel and be done with it. I'll just remember next time I get a new coin to post a photo of no more than one square centimeter of it's surface and then make snyde remarks about how most of the postings here have nothing to do with my narrow interests. boo.gif

Is there a different NGC forum that relates strictly to the subject of die varieties? If there is please point me to that section. If there's not one -- that would be a suggestion on my part to have one.

I don't care to upload 5 zillion mega-byte scans that most of you post. Then on top of that you quote that post that has the 5 zillion mega-byte scans and it reloads that 5 zillion mega-byte scan again in the same thread!!??!!. Good grief -- that's pathetic. That's why I posted a small pic of the variety. Duh!!!!!!!!

All you needed to do at the very beginning was say, it's a nickel or whatever overdate, then us plebians would have learned something. Instead you continue to make posts that add ZERO information for those not as learned as you, which makes you look like an arrogant [embarrassing lack of self control].

Great find, Billy! I think that diligence probably has more to do with it than luck. Hub doubled dates are cool; hub doubled OVDs are way cool. thumbsup2.gif One of my favorite varieties is the Shield 5c FS-5.9 (F-14, 2-R-III) due to the fact that the reverse die was impressed with two different hubs (out of just three no-rays reverses used for the entire series).

I tend to like your "little" pictures of "big" varieties because we share an interest in the subject; and, if I'm not familiar with what you've posted, I like to try my own hand at attribution. I imagine it can be a little frustrating, though, for collectors who have general knowledge in this area -- but who want to learn more -- to see nothing more than a "43" without at least a notation of the denomination. flowerred.gif I know that it wouldn't have been any problem for you to type "Jefferson 5c 1943/2-P, FS-28 (Breen 2687)" -- and I know that you would have gladly done so if asked nicely. wink.gif

Well, I knew what the coin was immediately when I saw the image, though I don't know if the image is from Cherrypickers, some other guide or if it's yours. However, the lecture seemed over the top, but that is just my opinion.

Just to add: I had NO idea what this picture was from so I suppose some added info would have been nice. I have to go along with Jtryka on this one.

What that has to do with people posting so-called "AT" photos is beyond me.... 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

... lucky. Retrieved from an original BU roll. All the ones I have seen before were extremely mushy and washed out.

That's the best picture I can recall seeing of one. Way to go! 893applaud-thumb.gif

Since I am not a nickel variety collector and also don't post 500 Gazillion pixel coin pics here, it would be nice to give me more information. Plus, surprizingly, I still have a working brain, despite collecting mostly 19th, plus, early 20th Century type and gold.
