Hello, I'm looking for information on the following item. It looks like a commemorative coin/medal, since I don't see the denomination. Anyone came across one of these before? Also, if anyone is an expert in Arabic, I would like to know what the text in the circle on the back is.

I thank you for your time and I apologise in advance for the poor quality of the image.

The medal, which was issued in 1981, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Iraqi Air Force. There is a coin version with the same design, a 1 Dinar, KM-153, which circulated during Saddam Hussein's rule. That coin is multi-sided, and is made of nickel. I have seen the coin version of your pic, but not a medallic version. I believe that your medal was given to either important Iraqi officials or VIP's.

It appears you're absolutely right, dorancoins. I have received an email today from an Iraqi friend who helped me acquire the item in the first place. He told me that this commemorative medal was given by Saddam in 1981 to his top Guard officers during the 50th anniversary of the Iraqi Air Force.

Thank you again.
