Looks like that “Lincoln with a migraine” die crack!

7 posts in this topic

I can just feel the pain throbbing in my temples when I look at the vain sticking out of poor Mr. Lincoln’s forehead on this 1909 VDB cent. makepoint.gif

I bought this cent off of a bid board at the local coin shop about ten year ago; once part of my type set back in my raw days.

Until tonight I never noticed the die crack running from Lincoln’s cheek to the rim at about 12:30.

I was looking at the cent under a stereo microscope and the ridge just popped right out at me. 893whatthe.gif

The image shown was taken with a light angle to best show the raised disruption, the coin is much nicer, MS65 RD.

Thanks for comments guys.

I have to say that if I wouldn’t have reading the posts here about errors lately, I don’t think I would be taking a closer look at a lot of my coins now and would have missed this neat crack. foreheadslap.gif

Hayden, what does your moootercycle run on? Ethanol made from corn? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif
