Variety Plus No-Grades

2 posts in this topic

Ok, I understant not refunding grading fees for no-grades, since it takes as much time to look and determine there is a problem as it does to determine a grade. But what about coins that are "no grades" where you pay for the variety plus designation? Are those fees refunded? Or will you not refund them and provide the designation information? I am thinking of this in light of bust halves. Many have been cleaned over the last 200 years or so, and that increases the likelihood of receiving a no grade, but if I pay for a variety plus for the Overton designation, then I guess I would expect either a refund of the $5 or the variety listed on the return of the body bag. Thanks for clarifying this!

NGC does not refund the Variety Plus fee as all coins requested for this service line are attributed before the coin makes its way into the grading room. This being the case, the attribution would appear on the "no-grade" tag that accompanies the coin back to the submitter.
