Roosevelt dime grading

2 posts in this topic

I'd be interested to hear what the forum members have to say about the way that the third party grading services compare when grading the Roosevelt dime series. Who's the toughest grader? Which grading services coins demand the best prices at resale "sight unseen"?

How about this type of comparison....If the toughest grader (whoever it turns out to be), gives the coin a MS66 or PF67, where do the other services coins stack up?

Thanks,

Bill

PCGS is ungodly tough in the pre-65 dates. There are extremely low numbers of blast white, virtually mark-free gems that top out at MS67 at PCGS for some reason. Awesome toning is what takes them up to the higher grades. So obviously if PCGS grades tighter, they bring more money. However, I don't think PCGS' toughness on the series is justified, so a lot of crossover to NGC will happen.
