Anyone have any 2005 mint sets on back order?

18 posts in this topic

According to the Mint website, they are expected to be available 8/31.

FYI:

Whenever I want several items from the Mint and I know that some or all of them will be backordered, I always opt for "Expedited Shipping". As an example, the USMC Proof, UNC, Coin & Stamp Set and the Prestige Set were all to be released on different dates. When I placed my orders for them at the same time, I opted for the Expedited Shipping. I'm only charged once for this delivery service, but as each item is released by the Mint I get overnight Fedex delivery for them.

Standard Shipping may take anywhere from 7-14 days from the release date and costs $4.95. Expedited Shipping costs $17.95 and I get it right away. By the way, when I placed the order for the USMC Commems the Mint was running a special: "Upgrade from Standard Shipping ($4.95) to Expedited Shipping at no extra charge."

I'm on my 4th go-round for the Mint Sets and I should get this batch the first week of September.

I received the USMC Coin & Stamp Set two weeks ago - SOLD OUT!!

I received the USMC Proof $ last week.

The USMC UNC $ and the Legacy Set are expected to be released 8/31.

I mean getting all the orders at one time! 27_laughing.gif

I ordered them at the same time, but they are being delivered as they are released.

I sent back a Silver proof set because of scratches on the case and spots on the coins. This was in June. They refunded my shipping costs back to them in a few days. However, I called near the end of July to ask where my replacement conis were in the process and they told me they were out of them and they were back ordered. If it were not the US Mint, I would find that hard to believe. But since it IS the US Mint, I totally understand. They can't tell their bum from a hole in the ground. Why not make enough in the first place and NOT ship out coins with spots and scratched cases? How in the world do they scratch the cases all up anyway? I could understand QC not catching some spotty coins...(3 coins in the holder were spotted... the SAC was the worst.) but to not catch a scratched up case, well, they must just hope people will be so glad to finally get something they ordered months before.

I got my Marine Commem. last week. It is gorgeous. Do you think there'll be a lot of PR69's and PR70's out of this selection? I'd swear mine is PR70.

Nah, it's just a 69! 893whatthe.gif

I learned that returns take a "back seat" to filling new orders. I returned a 2005 PF SAE earlier this year. When I hadn't received a replacement after 6 weeks, I called and was told they get to returns when they can but filling new orders has priority. Don't worry, you'll get it.......................eventually.

When I received my 2005 Silver Proof Sets, two of the sets had a flaw on the reverse of the Kansas 25c. There is a lump on the butt of the buffalo (filled die chip). I thought about returning them but when I considered the lengthy turn-around, I changed my mind. foreheadslap.gif

The 2005 Silver Proof Set holder is scratched and the Marine Commem. Coin and Stamp set dollar has a brown toning streak on the reverse. Doesn't anyone at the Mint check these coins?

Oh, I see they sent you my returned Silver Proof set. Lucky you, lucky me. I believe the people they have working for them just consider it a job. They give a lackluster performance of putting whatever comes down the chutes into boxes (poorly) and call it a day at 5 o'clock. I don't think any of them would even know if something was damaged or if a coin has spots or streaks. I guess we should thank our lucky stars that they even get the poorly packed boxes in the mail to us.
