1981p dime with extra leaves and berries

I think what you are referring to is the coin's excessive die wear. It's caused by dies striking too many coins before either being resurfaced or taken out of service.

Hi Dogs -- It's still quite difficult to analyze the coin based on the scanned image. I see what I think -- as in maybe -- doubling on the leaf cluster on the left side of the branch. The tip of the middle leaf of that cluster in particular appears to be doubled in a way that suggests a DDR. I don't have any attribution guides for 10c varieties -- anybody else?

Sure here's another scan.

I don't understand why your scans look so bad. Scan them at 600dpi resolution and don't resize the scanned images. Even my cheap scanner does an adequate job of scanning at 600dpi.

Would scanning with a higher resolution like 9800-19000 help?

I've never heard of resolution like that. 600dpi is all you need. Then don't resized the images like you have been doing.

Dogs -- You get an "A" for effort and persistence; but, as for the photos/scans . . . they're just not good enough to allow a meaningful opinion. Sorry. frown.gif
