I believe the US mint is not striking half dollars and dollars for circulation 893scratchchin-thumb.gif
Ok, humor me and pretend they are.

Why did you choose the half over the dollar?

I haven't voted yet foreheadslap.gif

The poll is slanted.........we should eliminate the cent (highest production cost) and the dollar bill (short useful life). The dollar and the half dollar coin should then be put back into circulation.

I'd have liked to be able to pick more than one answer. The half dollar needs to go. There isn't much current use for it. Perhaps a redesigned version where it isn't so large and bulky.

If we want a dollar coin, then the dollar bill needs to go. We need to pick one or the other.

The cent can go. It's pretty much outlived its usefulness.

I am not sure what you mean by your signature: "This is little more than a gathering of lack-wits, dullards, mental midgets and lobotomized droolers". Are you refering to the members on this board? Please enlighten me.

I'm with you on that Chris, with over half of the all coins struck per year being cents, that is a very high cost. And for what? A coin that people throw away. foreheadslap.gif

FRom a practical standpoint the cent and paper dollar should be eliminated. However the american public doesn't want it to happen. Well at least with the Paper dollar and the cent is something people still want.

The reality is the Half dollar and dollar coin should be eliminated because the american public just doesn't take to them. Besides the half dollar was hoarded due to JFK and is now so uncommon people hoard them when they get them. The dollar coin because some people can't get the idea that the sacagawea is golden yet somehow still confuse it with the quarter insane.gif

I would personally love the dollar coin and half dollar to circulate but the public won't take it. Also I like the cent and the paper dollar. It will be a colod day when you pry the last cent and paper dollar out of my hand mad.gif

Plus people before we forget there is the two dollar bill. They still make them and I love them. They should circulate but the public just hoards them. The Treasury really needs to do a public campaign to tell people they shouldn't hoard half dollars or two dollar bills. Plus lets not forget bicentenial coinage. With this they could also tell people "silver pennies" are not rare. I am sure the 1943 lincoln cent is the bane of many dealers.

Just remember though if there is a delaer you hate or he has wronged you spend a few rolls of them around where he is. devil.gif Unfortunately this is shamefully sign-offtopic.gif

Gather up all the surviving pennies and pay down the national debt. I wont miss any of them and I doubt many others will either.

People dont even pick them up off the ground. Theres usually half a tray of them in the convenient stores. If you roll them, you are making about $3 an hour. They are dead freaking weight.

I don't know what coin should be ousted. Perhaps the US Mint should make a coin without any denomination, design or value and lets see how the TGS's grade them!

Pop top and toned collectors would have a field day with that one! 27_laughing.gif
