My only Trade Dollar. Which images do you like better? Thanks.

ANR's photos

My scanned pics

BTW, they are both accurate, just depends on at which angle you view the coin. My scan definitely shows that hairline on the reverse, next to the arrows, which barely shows on ANR's photos. It's a PF62 CAM, and I love it. Got it for my silver dollar type set.

I, too, prefer ANR's images, but I would rather see an image of it being shipped to Southwest Florida..........about 100 miles south of Gulfport, though. ( hi.gifHayden)

ER,

Literally, my first reaction when I saw the ANR photo was, "Damn!", I was so impressed. It is my goal to eventually have a cameo proof Trade dollar. Then I saw your scanned photo and saw the hairlined reverse but it wasn't such a big eye-sore. For a PR 62, that is one sweet coin. I feel that you made a very good buy and besides, the obverse is the most important facet of a coin anyway. Very impressed! thumbsup2.gif

There is a good lesson learned, however, and that is how auction houses will doctor up images in order to sell a coin for a higher premium. I saw that in the Richmond auction.

And lesson number two: Oh, I wish I were a Tradenut dol-ler... tongue.gif TDN, you have accomplished much that people like us could only dream of. 893applaud-thumb.gif Much respect, bro!

the anr photo is better in fact night and day different

if you had photoed the coin i would never ever have considered bidding on it as the coin was not properly neutralized after dipping and has a rough and tumble look to it as it was ever so lightly circulated and/or improperly stored many decades ago then heavy dipped stripped and then not properly neutralized and then put into an album

Thanks everyone for your input. My scanned pic does show the cameo contrast, and the hairline more. The ANR's photo is prettier. Scanner cannot compete with hig-quality digital photos.

I like your photos, but they are overexposed. The whites look blown out to me. Lower the exposure a bit (or cheat and do an auto levels) and it will look much better...Mike

If I'm selling... I like the ANR better. If I'm buying... I like yours better they show more accurately. Let me guess did you take your shots with diffuse lighting? I don't think they did.
