Need Help!!!

Recently, my husband found a 1799 Liberty Silver dollar. From the information I have have on the internet, it is 6 x 7 (13 stars) without the berries on the branches. Any Information would be appreciated!

Can you show a picture of it? There are many fakes.

I will try to post a picture as early as tomorrow. Maybe even tonight. He found it in a box belonging to his grandparents, so it has been there for years.

Counterfeits of these have been made for many decades so there is no assurance it is real simply because it has been in the family for many years. Of course, there is also the possibility that it is a genuine coin and then it will be worth good money. Please, whatever you do, do not clean the coin in any manner! Doing so will drastically reduce what it is worth.

Found in box with many other coins from the 1800's? Some coins early 1900's? the box was in the attic for years.

Would be nice to have at least pic of the coin.

 

If it's genuine, then it's either variety BB-161 (no berries reverse, with the obverse first 2 stars thin) or BB-160 (no berries reverse, with the obverse stars fat).
