Got an "S" mint Lincoln in change today! Put it on eBay?

42 posts in this topic

It might not slab for AT.

At least you don't have to feed it.

Interestingly I got just about the worst '64-D cent I've ever seen today. It is still round and mostly disc shaped but after getting a lot of wear this sucker got beaten with an ugly stick. Little metal is missing but it's all been pushed around on the obverse and reverse. It's a wonder I can make out the date.

((( I am high bidder! )))

Oh boy, this has gotten way out of hand! This Lincoln cent is now at $.10, which is 10 x face value. Meanwhile, my genuinely attractively-toned Kennedy half is still sitting at $.01, which is 1/50 of face value.

Hey, mister, is this just a bit of marketing strategy?! You're a genius, man, I say it again, a pure genius in the league of John Paul Sarosi, Paul Sims, Robert Chambers and Coast to Coast!

This is a joke, right? I'm no pro, and I am having difficulty seeing any beauty in this coin. It looks like rust on it. Why are you calling it toning? And some of you are considering to slab it. What's with that ?

It's very difficult to see the beauty in this coin but I'm sure there is some.

Yes. We're joking. Though this is a common coin in uncommon condition. wink.gif

I appreciate your honest response. I was becoming very confused. If SMS ms-65 Lincoln cents average $5.00. It's mind boggling to see the coin on Ebay for $2.00 Plus. The add is an good example of creative writing.

Thanks

Joking?

JOKING?

You're accusing me of running a JOKE eBay auction?????? devil.gif

I'll have you know, I have had to respond to some very serious allegations regarding this auction. So if you want, review the listing once more, and pay special attention to some of the biting, incisive questions that I've been forced to answer. mad.gif The questions have become so .... so uh .... insulting that I'm considering pulling the auction and demanding a fee refund from eBay.

I stand corrected.

I confess I hadn't actually followed the link and now see that this is a monsterou.. er ah, I mean monster toned coin.

It appears I may have been wrong earlier about feeding it too. Perhaps this is why it followed you home. Next time try to restrict the diet to olive oil and these will be tamed a little.

Good luck.

Well, Travis, I have a 1982 cent that you would pay top dollar for. It would put the '72 S to shame. As a matter of fact, I have over a grand invested in it! Really! It is the only damn thing that I have found to date with these damned metal detectors. So, I soaked it in Fixer, an acidic agent used in developing photographic film and x-rays. It has eaten holes through the zinc but the date remains. It is actually kind of cool!
