A short report of my ANA experience

10 posts in this topic

I went all the way to SF, but I had to spend most of my time sick in bed during the show wink.gif

But I managed to sell all of my coins I brought in to Dennis at JadeRareCoins(thanks alot!) and could buy a few coins at the show.

I met Mark Feld, Airplanenut, Hoot and gmarguli(Greg). All nice people!! laugh.gif

Greg was kind enough to show me his NEWPS....very nice coins.

I had long wanted to see Greg in person because of his personality on this board....my dream wink.gif came true.

I'm still not in a good condition, but recovering gradually. I managed to take a pic of one of my coins I brought back.

Meeting you was an honor, and seeing that lovely half dime you were toting around was a great treat! BTW, your photo does not begin to do it justice!

A beautiful coin indeed. But please fill us in. I can't even read the date from your image. I think I make out a 186. If that's anything later than 1862 then you have quite a coin there. What's the reverse look like?

My friend, that is one beautiful toned coin. I rarely compliment on these boards but you get an A++++ on this piece. Top of the line---in my book. Bob [supertooth]

Your comment makes me proud to own this coin. Thank you laugh.gif

Sorry for the pic. Whenever I tried to capture the color, I failed to capture the whole details blush.gif

It's 1865. Obverse has proof like surface(I know it's quite common for this date) with some rim toning. Reverse has similar toning around the rim, but not as vivid as obverse. I tried to take a pic of reverse, but the coin is tilted in the holder and that made me harder....eventually, I gave up taking reverse image and went to bed last night. I'll try someday wink.gif

That's a stunning coin! Do yourself a favor and avoid Hoot next time you are in the US, he has been known to make other board members physically ill. wink.gif

It's gratifying to know that you'll pay dearly for that comment. devil.gif As for the board member I seem to make ill, it's also gratifying to know that. smirk.gif
