A Toned Moose

9 posts in this topic

I have 3 coins that are "Mooses" - By that I mean they are in the front row of the A+ box and look so incredibly beautiful, that if there was a fire and you could only save one, you might be in trouble!

The image was done by Brandon Kelley - (Poorguy) and I must say he has really captured what this coin looks like - I didn't think this coin could be imaged as the colors change as it's moved even slightly - Everyone who has seen this coin understands why I refer to this toning as "Scrunchy" - there's really no other way to describe it. I actually refer to this coin as "Moose2" as I have at least 1 that I think is better.

WOW!!! I don't think I've ever seen such a neon toned toner like this! I take that back---I know I've never seen one. Is the reverse just as nice or is the obverse the only toned side?

It looks like a proof but is it? And is it in a slab? What's the grade? Inquiring collectors want to know and see!!!!

A Mint State coin - It is in a slab, anyone care to guess the grade and who slabbed it?

It is really that neon - has great PL surfaces - the reverse is essentially white - there is a bit of very subtle peripheral tone, but nothing to speak of -

Here's a link to a post that has both sides imaged:

I hardly ever look at the reverse - I'm dazzled everytime I look at the obverse cool.gif

Take a second look at the coin's surfaces

That's the problem, Newsy; I can't see the surfaces because I'm blinded by the color. wink.gif
