Coins that jump from case to case.

5 posts in this topic

One thing that stood out at the ANA is coin case jumping. I usually remember coins I have sold in the past or coins from auction. Often times. a dealer will place on consignment a few coins with another dealer. Well, at this ANA, I noticed a few of my old coins, as well as other coins, jumping from case to case, yet ownership never changing. I would see a coin and say "isn't that X's coin?". The dealer would nod in the affirmative. Then, the next show with another dealer, "isn't that X's coin?", with a nod in the affirmative. I just find it rather amusing that the coins can never find permanent homes. Any similar experiences?

No. The closest thing I had was when someone posted a pic of a great coin they just acquired and proudly showed it in a thread and it was one I made at PCGS.

Truth-----I am not into the "resubmitting" game. But it would seem to me that if guys have all that time to play around with the same old coins----trying to make a buck, that probably would indicate that there is not too much "fresh" material around?? Or maybe that the coin has found a "coffin" no matter which holder it is in?? Sort of goes with my theory that the coins are just not out there to be had----unless you are looking for the leftovers or overpriced ones or overgraded material. Bob [supertooth]

I've seen that happen with coins that I have once owned and have always chalked it up to the fact that different dealers do not always have overlapping clients.
