Not to sure about this auction -- your thoughts?

6 posts in this topic

I came across this eBay auction. Most of you know that I like to keep records of rotated dies and have a few in my personal collection. This auction is for a 2005-P Bison nickel with 90 degree rotation. Something about this auction makes my hair stand-up on the back of my neck. I know one thing -- if it was my coin the first thing I would do is send it in for certification. Wondered what your thoughts might be.

If I were selling it, I wouldn't be charging $25.00 for Express Mail. It also seems strange that he would have an "As is, No Refunds or Exchanges policy". It may be real, but I'd pass.

From reading his feedback -- I get the drift he doesn't deal with coins.

I'm more interested in that if it's legit -- it would make a great story for NN. What can I say -- I'm playing cub reporter for the Daily Planet.

I have sent an e-mail to the seller explaining who I am and the potential for a news article and requesting if able to examine a specimen for authentication and photographing. Again, if its legit and if he found this in a BU roll -- I highly suspect he has more than one.

Will see what happens.
