What does FS stand for on error coins?

It stands for Bill Fivaz/J.T. Stanton Cherrypickers' Guide number such as FS-027.4.

However, you may not want to get involved with that too much since the CPG 4th Edition Volume II is not coming out and the author has ripped thousands of people who pre-paid for the book 2 years ago. But that's my own feelings about it since I pre-paid as well. Sorry if that comes across harsh -- but this is a sore subject with me.

FS stands for the last-name initials of Bill Fivaz and JT Stanton, the authors of the Cherrypickers' Guide. FS numbers refer to specific die varieties listed in the CPG.

I see that I was a bit late in posting -- Die Varieties got his answer in first. There's another thread running on the CPG (specifically, on the delay in publication of Vol. II) in the Numismatic Tangents forum. My thoughts (as well as the thoughts of others) are posted there. I will say that Vol. I is a good resource that is used by many who collect varieties (and is also used by the TPGSs in variety attribution).

IGWT is correct.

I'd suggest looking on ebay for Volume I.

It IS a great book.
