Grade this coin...

19 posts in this topic

looks like a prooflike biz strike to me but i would need to see the coin in person sight seen to be sure

if the 2 in the date is repunched then it is a no brainer circ strike coin

for me it is an unc coin again i needs to see it sight seen to see if it is ms62 or 63?? or better and if sight seen it has slight rub then it is an au-62

so if i had to give a wild flyer guesstimate just by the photo i would say ms63 prooflike

an available overrated date the 1883 would be much MUCH BETTER

but the 1882 is still a good coin but not as good as the 1883 1881 civil war dates and 1858

Mucho Gusto ....Thanks Bruces war!!!... I need some remedial pic posting!! headbang.gif

I'm actually good with most PC stuff, maybe the site could make it easier for all of us Mr. Modirator?

Great info on the grading to all, please keep the experiment going since I think due to the trends on slabs it will help all of us. After all, eye appeal is a big factor, rarity, pop numbers if you can trust them, or wait for another ship to be found and salvaged. Or Granny to empty her shoe box on an estate sale.

Wow, that's quite a coin. Sorry to hear it came back cleaned.

I have a very similar $1 at NGC being graded as we speak (my pic is crappy, sorry):
