Here's how my Indian Head Cent collection looks these days

8 posts in this topic

These are just quick scans, but I wanted to share. I'm in a continual process of upgrading these coins, and recently won the 1888 in an eBay auction (haven't recevied it yet). Strangely, I just can't seem to find an 1864 CN that I really like! I hope to get the two big coins, 1877 and 1909-S this year, but the 1856 slot is destined to remain unfilled for a while.... but yes, I will be putting an XF+ or AU in that hole some day.

Because it's a scan and not a digital photo, some of the coins look like they have weird colors, but such is not the case. All of these coins are nice originals.

Enjoy!

That's a great looking set. I see some serious die rotation on that 1864 too.

I started a set of these years ago in XF-AU. I got most of the easy ones and now it's been setting for about five years unattended. I completed the Lincolns about three years ago so maybe I should work on these some more. Either that or just sell them off and be done with it. Tough decision. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Thanks for the comments, everyone. None of these grades below XF, and only a couple are UNC; I've tried to maintain a carefully narrowed grade range of EF-45 through AU-58. No more than a handful of these coins were cracked out of slabs - by and large, I have enjoyed the challenge of searching for these coins raw. Kryptonite used a great term, "slab warehouse" 893applaud-thumb.gif If these coins were slabbed, I'd have to carry the collection around in a backpack!

Randy, I'd be interested in purchasing your set. Better yet, I'd be interested in seeing you get back to work on it!

Relook at the pics... at first I too thought it was the 1871... but it is 1964... very nice set... my set is coming along... but I got alot of wholes... I am going for VF+ coins... with the lone exception being by 1877.. which is G4 for now...plus a few others I had when I started the set which will be upgraded...
