Can anyone give me the REAL KEY Date's for ASE's?

10 posts in this topic

I'm talking MS-69 Registry Set's. Trying to edit my registry description's of ASE's. Everyone has different opinions about this question, or at least it appears that way, while browsing online auctions! I know the '97..maybe the '88 and '94??

Any help would be appreciated.

What would NGC call key?

Thanks In Advance!:)

No set whether it be a reg or just a full collected set, would be complete without the 1995-W. But its availability and cost are key factors in ones decision to have a complete set. As they sell for over $2500 alone and $3500 in the mint set, they are expensive and very rare to come by. A hefty commitment for completing a set.

I sold all of mine simply because I never expected to obtain a 95. Kept the 94 tho. Pulled it from the mint casing and let it sit in the bathroom for a couple of months.

David, when you refer to the "mint set" for the '95-W, I assume that you mean the Gold Proof Set. It is my understanding that this was the only way you could have obtained the 95-W from the U.S. Mint. By the way, Greysheet Bid/Ask is currently $4100/$4350 by itself.

Chris, you are quite right as I've been out of the hunt for some time (two years). Doesn't surprise me at all that they have gone up in price as they were such a limited production. At least 65% of the $4100 is for the ASE. And yes, I was referring to the mint set to get one. But there are quite a few out there that have been pulled from the sets and sold individually simply for its value to the PR ASE set collectors.

Ted, as far as the question being about MS and not PR, you're quite correct about the 95 not really fitting in. However, the "hole" left for the date just doesn't sit right with me if I were to again attempt to put together either a MS or a PR set.

While the 95-W is in fact a proof, I think it will end up as desired as the 1895 Morgan Proof from Philadelphia. It's going to be the big key, even though like the Pr. 1895 Morgan, it doesn't really go with the mint set. It seems over valued now, but if coin values hit a snag, I'll sure get one.
